Which drone batteries can I charge and store in the BAT-SAFE XL?

The total capacity of all batteries in the box is decisive: it must not exceed 444 Wh. This means that, for example, the following batteries can fit:

DJI Matrice 4 series (99 Wh): up to 4 batteries DJI Mavic 3 / Mavic 3 Enterprise (77 Wh): up to 5 batteries DJI Matrice 30 TB30 (131,6 Wh): up to 3 batteries DJI Matrice 350 / 300 TB65 (263,2 Wh): 1 battery DJI Matrice 400 TB100 (977 Wh): not suitable

How does the BAT-SAFE XL ensure safety in the event of a fire?

In the event of a fire, the BAT-SAFE XL enables controlled pressure release through its ventilation system, which filters the smoke and retains harmful substances, while the escaping gas remains below 150° C.

BAT-SAFE XL for safe battery storage

The BAT-SAFE XL is a safety box for charging and storing lithium batteries, such as drone, LiPo or e-bike batteries. The charging cables are routed to the outside through a flame-resistant opening, allowing the batteries to be charged directly inside the box. The BAT-SAFE was developed by aerospace engineer and model pilot Tom Mast after a LiPo fire nearly set his house on fire.

Protection in the event of fire

In the event of a battery fire, temperatures of up to 800 °C can occur inside the box. Thanks to its special insulation, the base and side walls heat up to no more than 80 °C. The resulting pressure is released in a controlled manner through the ventilation openings at the top; the smoke is filtered, retaining harmful substances. The escaping gas reaches a maximum of 150 °C.

Space for large batteries

With an internal space of 240 × 165 × 380 mm, the BAT-SAFE XL accommodates up to six 6S LiPos with 5000 mAh or e-bike batteries. This makes it suitable for drone operators, model builders and companies that regularly need to charge and safely store several batteries – in the office, workshop or service vehicle.
