Which PDRAs are currently available for drones in Germany? (Pre-Defined Risk Assessment)

You can see the PDRAs available in Germany categorised according to PDRA-S and PDRA-G.

PDRA-S

PDRA-S01 (= mirror of STS-02 for drones without CE class)

  • Visual contact with the UAS: Yes, mandatory (= VLOS).
  • Ground area: Can be cordoned off and is under the control of the drone pilot.
  • Airspace: Controlled or uncontrolled (no restrictions).
  • Maximum flight altitude: 120 metres.
  • Drone characteristics: Maximum size of 3 m and maximum take-off weight MTOM up to 25 kg.
  • CE class of the drone: None required.
  • Pilot training: A2 drone licence and practical training with recognised body.
  • see also AMC4 of EU regulation 2019/947

PDRA-S02 (= mirror of STS-02 for drones without CE class)

  • Visual contact with the UAS: Not required (= BVLOS) if the distance between remote pilot and drone does not exceed 1 km. a distance of 2 km is permitted if a helper is used (= EVLOS).
  • see also AMC5 of the EU regulation 2019/947

PDRA-G

PDRA-G01

  • Visual contact with the UAS: Not required (= BVLOS) if the distance between remote pilot and drone does not exceed 1 km. Otherwise yes, by yourself or by helpers (
  • =
  • EVLOS).
  • ground area: Sparsely populated.
  • airspace: Uncontrolled with low risk of encountering a manned aircraft.
  • maximum flight altitude: 150 m.
  • Drone characteristics: Maximum size of 3 m and energy of max. 34 kJ.
  • CE class of the drone: None required.
  • Pilot training: Requirements depending on the planned mission.
  • see also AMC2 of the EU regulation 2019/947

PDRA-G02

  • Visual contact with the UAS: Not required (= BVLOS).
  • Ground area: Sparsely populated.
  • Airspace: Restricted.
  • Maximum flight altitude: Unlimited.
  • Drone characteristics: Maximum size of 3 m and energy of max. 34 kJ.
  • CE class of the drone: None required.
  • Pilot training: Requirements depending on the planned mission.
  • see also AMC3 of EU regulation 2019/947

PDRA-G03 (for automated monitoring and inspections of facilities and infrastructure)

  • Visual contact with the UAS: Not required (= BVLOS).
  • Radio contact to the UAS: direct C2-link.
  • Ground area: Sparsely populated.
  • Airspace: ARC-a (atypical airspace).
  • Maximum flight altitude: 15m above obstacles.
  • Flight range: max. 30m to the side of the obstacle.
  • Drone characteristics: Maximum size of 3 m and energy of max. 34 kJ.
