Is insurance required for drone flying?
Yes, in general, pilots of aircraft, whether manned or not, regardless of take-off weight, are subject to the regulations on liability for third-party damage in accordance with § 33 et seq. LuftVG, so that so-called owner's liability insurance is required. Private liability insurance does not normally cover this damage. It is important to ensure that the sum insured is at least €1,000,000 in order to cover the costs of high property damage or personal injury in case of doubt.
