How do you get permission to fly drones in no-fly zones?

A permit is required to fly a drone within the open category of no-fly zones. This can be requested from the responsible operator of the area/facility or from German air traffic control after appropriate communication.

The application for an air traffic control clearance and further information can be found here.

There is a general ruling on the granting of air traffic control clearances. These are intended for drone flights in control zones of airports with German Air Traffic Control (DFS) and state that flights up to a flight altitude of 50 metres are possible without permission.

If a flight is planned within the special category (without visual contact, over 120 m in height or over crowds of people, etc.), an operating licence is required in all cases. We will be happy to advise you on the application procedure and support you with your project.
