Description

Would you like to go from zero to a full EU drone licence in two days? Then this classroom training course is made for you! Our experts will guide you through all the relevant areas of drone flying. You will have plenty of time for questions and will be trained in theory and practice. This is the ideal choice for companies and people who don't want to approach the subject half-heartedly. In addition, you will receive comprehensive training in the theoretical content of STS / standard scenarios, i.e. standardised operational applications in the special category.

Airclip has been officially recognised by the German Federal Aviation Authority (DE.PStF.006) for the EU Remote Pilot Certificate A2 (= large EU drone driving licence) since January 2021 and also for the STS theory certificate since December 2023.

What do I have after the training?

You are the holder of the large EU drone pilot licence (= remote pilot certificate A2) and the theory certificate for all standard scenarios (STS). By law, both are valid throughout Europe and for five years.

Training content

Preparatory online content:

You will receive access to our online learning programme for the major drone driving licence and STS theory, which you can complete at your own pace. This will give you a first impression of the following topics:

  • All the essentials of the new EU drone legislation

  • Drone-relevant meteorology

  • Operational limits on the use of drones

  • Relevant drone technology (distance sensors, positioning, etc.)

  • Simple troubleshooting and response to error messages

  • Methods for minimising risk during drone operations

  • Everything about the two standard scenarios STS-01 and STS-02

Day 1:

On the first day of attendance, basic training with a focus on practical knowledge (= knowledge for A2 drone driving licence) is on the agenda. We will take a comprehensive look at the use of drones and go through the practice-relevant topics of the online learning programme in detail. You can look forward to the following content:

  • Drone use/legal situation in the OPEN EU category, i.e. "What am I allowed to do with drone X without a special permit?" (in particular §21h LuftVO)

  • Practical, drone-relevant meteorology

  • Relevant drone technology (distance sensors, positioning, etc.)

  • Live flight planning based on individual practical examples (weather, geo-zones, NOTAM briefing)

  • Setup and safety settings in various control apps

  • practical flight training in GNSS/GPS mode and basic functions (camera operation, altitude and distance enquiry)

  • practical training of emergency scenarios such as GNSS/GPS or radio failure (training drones are provided)

You will have the opportunity to ask our experts questions at any time.

Important note: The examination for the small EU drone licence must be taken in advance online here at the Federal Aviation Office, as this is the only option in Germany. Please use our contact form to request more detailed video instructions.

Day 2:

The second day covers the theory content relevant to the exam in more detail for the standard scenarios STS-01 and STS-02. You will familiarise yourself with the risk assessment for drone use in detail and also repeat topics from the first day. Flight planning and flight preparation for practical self-declaration in accordance with AMC2 UAS.OPEN.030(2)(b) DVO will be discussed for the large EU drone licence. You will learn practical methods for distance estimation and application of the 1:1 rule.

We will then continue with a short Q&A session . Attention: At this point you are in demand. We will only deal with any final uncertainties before you take the test. Please prepare for the exam at home!

The end of the day is the examination for the large EU drone licence including the STS theory test. The exam consists of 60 theory questions in multiple-choice format. The contents are the topics covered in the online learning programme.

Info: In order to be authorised to fly within the standard scenarios, an operational concept and an STS practical test are also required. If you are interested, you can learn and implement all practical content at some locations on the following 3rd day and receive the necessary certificate after a test.

Lunch, snacks and drinks are included.

On the first day of training, we also organise our individual flight training, where you can gain your own practical experience under supervision. You are welcome to book it!
