When do you need an RTK ground station?

If images from a drone are to be merged into a 3D model using photogrammetry software, the results can have varying degrees of accuracy. The RTK ground station helps to improve the accuracy and dimensional accuracy of the model. So use RTK if you also need real dimensions in the 3D model.

An RTK ground station is required if:

  • the result should be dimensionally accurate and no control points are available. With a ground station, length, area and volume are displayed correctly in a local coordinate system
  • there is no connection to the mobile phone network, for example to use correction services such as SAPOS via an internet connection
  • the drone is to be positioned precisely over a long period of time (no drifting due to GPS deviations)
