Practical training STS exam STS.01/02 for drone pilots
The STS.01/02 practical training course prepares drone pilots specifically for the European standardised STS exam. With practical exercises and in-depth knowledge, the course enables safe and legally compliant operations in the special category. STS.01 training and STS.02 exam preparation are fully covered.
Intensive preparation for STS.01 and STS.02 in accordance with EU regulations
The training is based on the EU Drone Regulation and covers all requirements of the STS.01 and STS.02 scenarios. Participants learn how to plan, document, and safely execute standard scenarios. The training thus increases operational readiness in the special category according to EU Regulation 2019/947.
Realistic flight exercises with professional guidance
Participants practice real-life operational situations in structured practical sessions. Under the guidance of experienced instructors, they improve their control skills and risk awareness. This makes the classroom course for the STS drone exam particularly effective and practical.
Includes preparation for the theoretical exam according to STS standards
In addition to the practical part, all participants receive comprehensive preparation for the theoretical part of the exam. Current content on operating procedures, airspace structure, and legal basics is explained in an understandable way—ideal for the STS exam according to EU standards.
Recognized examination center with certified trainers
The course takes place at a training center recognized by the Federal Aviation Authority. This ensures that the training meets legal requirements. Participants benefit from qualified examiners, official STS certificates, and quick access to commercial drone use.
Efficient training with small groups
The deliberately limited group size ensures that all participants receive individual support and targeted feedback. This increases learning success and leads to a high pass rate for the STS drone exam. The intensive support is a major advantage over online courses.
Training content
The practical day includes detailed flight preparation and evaluation of the safety areas. The knowledge gained is then immediately put into practice with our rental drones. The basic knowledge of the standard scenarios STS-01 and STS-02 is repeated and then applied. Flight training for use in urban areas as well as beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) is carried out together.
The day concludes with the examination for the STS practical certificate. It is important that you are already familiar with the theoretical basics, as the content of the STS theory test.

Airclip is an examination centre DE.PStF.006 designated by the Luftfahrt-Bundesamt (LBA) and a recognised examination centre for STS practice
Sample checklists and other documents are available for download free of charge
In the event of failure, a re-examination at the same location is possible free of charge
In order to be authorised to fly within the standard scenarios, an operating concept and an STS theory test are also required.
Participation requirements
You must have passed the STS theory test . You can take this at one of our 16 locations throughout Germany as part of the A2/STS complete training course (2 days).
You must be at least 16 years old. Note: For minors under the age of 18, please have a document of consent from your legal guardian (usually your parents) ready.
You will need a valid identity document (identity card or passport).
